MOVING DAY 2009: Cox, Hickory, Maury, Denbigh all earn key victories
BOYS: Beach:  It wasn't their prettiest result of 2009 but any win in the Beach District is a

Churchland salvages points versus Granby
After falling behind to Granby who scored on the only two shot attempts they forced, the
Churchland Truckers responded in a flash.  For soccer, 74 seconds of running clock is a
flash when the official time is stopped after a goal.  Nigel Tuft-Williams assisted on Frank
Bravo's header in the 48th minute, then took one to the house himself on a give-and-go with
Jarrett Wallbanks in the 49th.  Churchland and Granby would furiously move back and forth
across the FieldTurf pitch at Powhatan the remaining 30+ minutes of regulation and into
overtime, but the Truckers and Comets stayed unbeaten in the Eastern District with a 2-2
draw.  Jeremy Jones, who has scored in every match for the Comets this season, logged his
23rd of the year.  Churchland and Granby's girls teams also battled to a 2-2 draw earlier on
Monday as the Truckers scored with less than four minutes remaining in regulation to save
itself a point and cost Granby two more.  Lake Taylor and Norview rolled to ED victories in
both genders Monday with multiple goals scored by P. Thompson (LT) and A. Mathews
(NORV) for the boys, and J. Richardson (LT), Thomas (LT), and Vinson (LT) for the girls.

great looks at the goal... In Virginia Beach, Eaton and Fisher logged a pair of goals each as
Indian River trampled host Kempsville 6-2... Diaz also recorded a double as Oscar Smith
trounced Churchland, 6-1.  GIRLS: Alexa Bertrand's match winner led Oscar Smith past
Churchland, 1-0 in what turned out to be the only girls soccer match in the area Wednesday
night.
